I have a question about tickets.

Our box office staff can help you with ticketing questions, such as rescheduling, gift cards, and more. Contact the box office at tickets@factoryobscura.com.

How long did this take to make?

Mix-Tape took about one year from brainstorming to finished experience, with just six months of physical installation.

How many artists are involved?

The current Factory Obscura team consists of around 30 artists, including muralists, painters, sculptors, textile artists, poets & writers, movement artists, light & sound artists, actors, musicians, and more ranging in age from 20-something to 60-something. An army of community volunteers also participated in the making of Mix-Tape. Wide range of ages on our team.

How do you pick the artists?

Artists were originally sought out by the five founders of Factory Obscura and brought to a mysterious meeting, where they each decided if this was a project they wanted to be a part of. Since then, artists have been added on a project-by-project basis, slowly and intentionally expanding the skill set of our team.

Will you carry my art in your Gift Shop?

The products in our Gift Shop are made by the artists on our team. While we occasionally collaborate with other artists on specific products (such as the Kara Lane ceramics), we are primarily focused on our team. Feel free to submit your ideas to shop@factoryobscura.com.

Can I perform here?

Performers are welcome to submit a performance proposal here

Are you part of Meow Wolf?

No. Meow Wolf is another collective of artists that we are friends and collaborators with. Factory Obscura is an independent collective of Oklahoma-based artists.

Are you affiliated with Wayne Coyne & The Flaming Lips?

No. The Flaming Lips formerly rented this building as a gallery/storage/party space. We took over the lease in 2018 and completely redesigned the interior to create the Mix-Tape experience. The building murals were done by them, and we added the giant boombox, window graphics, and front porch. The King's Mouth installation has moved to AHHA in Tulsa thru May 2020.

How often do you change the exhibit?

We are constantly updating and adding to the experience, so the exhibit is always evolving. This is our first permanent space, and we are open year-round.

Are we allowed to take pictures & video?

Yes! For personal use only – please tag us! We love to see them.

Commercial photo & video shoots are treated as a private rental, with some restriction on content. Learn More.
