Factory Obscura is an Oklahoma City-based art collective creating immersive experiences that awaken wonder, build community, and make the world better.
Founded in 2017 at a mysterious meeting, today the artists and leadership of FACTORY OBSCURA are on a mission to support, create, and awaken our community and our world.
...a radically inclusive array of artists, thinkers, creators, inventors, and makers while developing an economic system that employs them at sustainable, thriving wages and allows them the freedom to create.
...ART in all its forms, bringing together people, community, and schools, and allowing the curiosity, love, and beauty inside us all to awaken.
...the inner child, sparking awe and wonder, inviting interactive play, both physical and mental, and challenging each other to explore deeper into our human potential and our connections through ART.
The Future is Collaborative.
The hands that create our experiences are connected to human beings who share a love for one another, for our craft, and for those who experience our art. We’re building the world we want to live in, and we want you to be involved.
You’re a collaborator.
Our experiences are only complete when you immerse yourself in them. We hope that while you’re here, you can let go of whatever is holding you back, and open yourself up to the new and the possible. That’s what we do.
The world we want to live in.
We are always striving to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, both within our experiences and within our collective. We believe in the transformative power of wonder, and that we are each the hero of our own story. Every emotion we experience while creating our worlds for you to enjoy is etched in our bones and leans us toward the world we’re trying to create.
What color is it?
It’s the color of access to arts education that’s imperative to healthy kids and communities. It’s the color of community coming together to make something larger than itself.
What flavor is it?
It’s sweet, like thriving wage jobs, not just for artists and artisans, but for all who choose to work with us to create a booming experience economy that makes our awesome city more awesome.
What does it feel like?
It feels cool, like the stones in the bridges we’re building across the things that divide us. So we can all hang out together.
What’s its vibe?
It’s the intensity of the artistic audacity and fearless experimentation that we want to grow...for visual artists, actors, musicians, poets, playwrights, and others who just need the space to try something amazing.
How big is it?
About 40,000-60,000 square feet, with plenty of space for massive experiences, immersive/interactive gardens, artist workshops, an event space, education center, and other community and creative spaces that are critical to the world we envision.
